1-Page-CV-or-2-Page-CV-or-3-Page- CV-Can-a-Jobseeker-Answer-this-Simple-Question

Are you a fresh graduate who is still defining your career objective and find CV writing a fairly difficult task?

Are you an unsatisfied mid-level career professional who is looking for a better job?

A one-page CV does not work for an average job seeker. But, a well-curated CV with suitable length can help!

A one-page resume for entry level person who is starting out in the job market is acceptable. There are proven formats that can be held to two pages that are acceptable. Major problem is; most people have no idea how to craft an effective resume and therefore struggle to get found and to be identified properly.

Director level or C-Suite level professionals require a thorough professional document and are in a different parameter. They need to have a profile of more than two pages. But, a 6-page autobiography probably won’t work for them. Nobody would even have time to look through it.

From the eyes of hiring manager, 3 and 4 page CVs always set off alarm bells that an applicant can’t prioritize critical information. So, don’t use irrelevant content to fill the space in order to get a 3 or 4 page CV.

Here are some mistakes that you as a professional make in an effort to get a long CV that you think; it will be most visible to hiring managers:

  • Mistake #1: You add unnecessary details.
  • Mistake #2: Your CV showcases wrong skill sets.
  • Mistake #3: You create the CV with fancy formatting.
  • Mistake #4: You create dense paragraphs that show exaggeration of weak achievements.
  • Mistake #5: You add 3 or 4 call numbers as contact information.
  • Mistake #6: Your CV has too much spelling and grammatical errors.
  • Mistake #7: You list skills and competencies as bar graphs.

There are other mistakes too, but I think I have covered the most important ones. If you stay away from these mistakes, your CV would give you the positive results.

So, if you are an unemployed and are currently looking for work and want to be considered serious in the domain of business; AVOID the CV that presents you a fake professional – just to get a CV of multiple pages .

Use a well-formatted CV that lists what’s relevant or most significant. Look shark in your CV and have a concise content; you’ll surely get a call back for an interview!!
